Sweden
Iranians mostly reach Sweden through English-taught master's, salaried PhD positions and work permits with a job offer. Non-EU students pay tuition and 2026 rules tightened (15-hour weekly work cap for students, 90% of median salary for work permits), while PhD and EU Blue Card holders got faster routes to permanent residence.
Pathways for Sweden
Sweden — Study (English-taught bachelor's (fee-paying))
With an Iranian upper secondary diploma (three years in the new system) you can apply for a bachelor's via universityadmissions.se. Tuition and funds work like master's but you need to plan for three years, and exit rules are a bigger issue for young men.

Sweden — Study (English-taught master's (fee-paying))
The most common Swedish route for Iranians: apply for a master's through the central portal universityadmissions.se, pay the first tuition instalment, then get a student residence permit from Migrationsverket. Non-EU students pay tuition and the well-known SI scholarship was not open to Iran in the 2026/27 call, so personal budget is decisive.
