Iraqi Kurdistan

The Kurdistan Region of Iraq is the nearest, cheapest destination for Iranians: Iranians need no visa in advance and get a 30-day stay on arrival, Kurdish is familiar to Iran's Kurds, and universities such as UKH and AUIS teach in English. The main routes are employer-sponsored work (work permit + residency card) and fee-paying English-taught study; but no KRG university is on Iran's Ministry of Science approved list, the region has been under Iranian drone and missile attacks since Feb 2026 (still in Oct 2026), and flights from Iran to Erbil and Sulaymaniyah are suspended.

Pathways for Iraqi Kurdistan

Iraqi Kurdistan — Study (English-taught bachelor's at fee-charging universities (UKH, AUIS))

The nearest, cheapest English-taught bachelor's for Iranians: no visa needed in advance, most programmes cost USD 3–5k a year, and the diploma is equalised in Erbil. But no KRG university is on Iran's Ministry of Science approved list, so the degree won't be recognised in Iran — only pick this if you don't need it back home.
